Colton Grows Up!

Since all of you have participated and waited with anxiety for this colt to be born, and you fans also named him, I thought you might like an update. Baby Colton is three weeks old in these pictures and weighs 72 pounds! Kristel’s mini-horse forums insist that his sire is either a pony or even a full-sized horse! It’s a miracle that he was birthed okay. Colton is a beautiful bay (black mane, black tail, black stockings). Yes, I know! Where are those black legs? The horse forum folks say his baby hair will shed and then he will have those black bay legs.

Colton looks nothing like his mini-horse (pony) mother in conformation. He is almost as tall as she is and his legs are already much longer. He looks like a horse, through and through. And if his sire is truly a full-sized horse, then Colton will be able to easily carry Kristi on his back at age three. Enjoy his “baby book” picture gallery. And then scroll down for a fun 3-minute video. You’ve seen the first minute, but I added to it. Colton is full of high spirits!

Isn’t he a handsome boy?

Two more pictures. Here Colton is one week old and he is meeting the dwarf Nigerian goats. He thinks they are just his size to have a play day!

Meeting the rest of the residents of the Ross Ranch.

A fun “I’m getting bigger” timeline. After this week, Kristel can’t left Colton any longer to weigh him. He’s too heavy!

  1. Colton is getting so big! 😍 And I have to say, I like that buckskin Nigerian. I’ve been wanting a buckskin nigi for a long time now!
