Before we get into the interview, here’s a little bit about Sara and her brand-new short-story book, The Country Home. It’s 138 pages full of fun stories, like:

  • Abby runs into a dilemma, cattle thieves and coyotes. Will she make it out okay?
  • Bessie is bored, so she runs off, what kind of trouble can a brown cow get into?
  • A cat and a coyote sure can have a strange friendship, who knows what they will run into!

Interview with Sara

  1. How long have you been writing? 

I started writing when I was ten, four years ago, I wrote a few stories just for fun. I stopped for about a year then picked up again and wrote a lot more stories. Quite a few of those stories are in my book, The Country Home. 

  1. What gave you the idea to publish a book?

I always wanted to publish a book. I read so many other books that it made me really want to publish my own! It was amazing to hold my very own book in my hands for the first time. 

  1. I know how that feels, Sara, holding your own book. So, who was/is your biggest supporter?

My biggest supporters are Tori H. and my sister. I also have some other friends, Essie B, Lizzy D, and Emma A, who helped me as well. I couldn’t have done all of this without them. A big shout-out of thanks to you for helping me, friends! 🙂

  1. What are some of your hobbies, when you are not writing? 

I love to read, raise rabbits and groom them, play with our kittens, skiing, and go-carting. I also enjoy taking photos and walking in the woods. Writing is always fun too. There are always stories waiting to be worked on!

  1. What kinds of stories do you like to write the most?

I love to write Andi Carter stories, Goldtown stories, and just-for-fun stories. I wrote Andi Carter stories when I started to write again, then I also wrote some stories just for fun. 

  1. How often do you write?

I write pretty often. I sometimes write every other day, but usually every day. 

  1. Wow. I wish I could write every day. Good for you, Sara! Do you plan to publish more books?

Oh, yes! I am working on two stories right now with my friends. It’s so fun to write and to publish them!

    So very cool that you have an interview! I know you are so excited that you are a published author!

    Here’s my answers for the giveaway:

    •I will read almost any story (as long as it is clean of course). But I would say probably mysteries. Also historical and historical fiction are some other of my favorites.

    •My top three favorites…I would say “The 13 Series”, “Red Rock Mysteries” and “The Sanctuary”. Also “Trapped in a Video Game”“The Summerhill Secrets”, and “Child of Mine” are some more favorites that are up there.

    •Oh! Such a hard question! They all are so good!!
    I’m not good at remembering the titles, but one of my favorites was on for a contest and it was about how Sid McCoy came to the Circle C Ranch with his daughter.

    I really like………
    Alex rider
    Little Women/Litlle Men/Jo’s boys
    And there is a few series in the “a life of faith” group.
    I also like ” The Prince and the Pauper.”

      2. That’s awesome! Rabbits are so fun! What breeds do you have? I do name my, left to right in the top, Parker, Maple Susie, L:evi, Dora, Grapejoy, and Taffy. Levi is a Holland lop and the others are lionheads!

      Oh I love the life of Faith books!! Which do you like? I really like the Millie Keith, Elsie Dinsmore, and Katherine Mckensie I think is her name (haven’t read that last one in a while haha)

  8. I’m so excited for you Sara. Congratulations, what a huge accomplishment!
    I like biographies on missionaries or personal stories from World War 2, especially about the holocaust or resistance. It would be impossible for me to name my favorite book, but I love Evidence Not Seen written by Darlene Diebler Rose.
    Again, Congratulations and I can’t wait to see who the contest winner is.

    1) I really like fantasy, fantasy/ reality, dystopian, and sci-fi (but not like the alien sci -fi)
    2) The first would be the Keeper of the Lost Cities series by Shannon Messenger, the second is The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer, and the third would be The Reason by Lacey Sturm.
    3)I honestly don’t have a favorite haha. I love reading all fan-fic

    In answer to your question I would say
    (1) My fav story to read is historical fiction.
    (2) Baker Family Adventures; Chosen Daughters; Christian Heroes: Then and Now.
    (3) I tried to find it but couldn’t. It was when Elizabeth and James first met at the gold camps. I loved it so much! It was written so well. The sentences flowed together perfectly.

    To answer your three questions, 1) my favorite kind of story to read is mystery or historical romance. 2) My top three favorite books are The Golden Braid by Melanie Dickerson, The Emperor of Nihon-Ja by John Flanagan, and The Runaway King by Jennifer Nielsen. 3) My favorite Andi Carter fan-fiction is The Return of Henry by Sara M. 🙂

    1. You should!!! Its actually not as hard as I thought it would be.
      Not really, ‘The Country Home’ is the last story in the book, story sixteen, and I thought it would be a good name and it suited the cover. 😉

      1. How many stories are in there? And are they about the same amount of words? If i ever write a book, I’ll probably do aa collection of stories, like you. Are the characters Christian? Sorry for all the questions!

      2. There are sixteen stories. They all range in how many words/pages. Some are shorter while others are longer.

  20. 1) My favorite genes are historical fiction, mystery, and fantasy, but not all fantasy.
    2) My favorite book is the Green Ember series by S. D. Smith, Words on Fire and Lines of Courage by Jennifer A. Nielsen. And of course, Mrs. M.’s books.
    3) I’m not sure! I like all of them! But i enjoyed yours, Sara, and was really happy when Mrs. M. posted my two stories on the blog. Thanks for the chance to win a great book!

    1. I think I get about$2.44 per book sold. I published the book though Amazon so they take some of it for printing and such. I think thats pretty good for getting a book published! 😀

    My fav types of stories are: Drama, Adventure, and mystery.

      1. Good for you! But when a person asked about “professional” editing, I think they mean, did you hire a “real” editor to go through the story. That is the definition of the word professional. Someone who edits as their profession (like what I do) and for money. 🤪
