It’s that time of the year. This year, Painted Acres Ranch has its own stallion, the ever kind and gorgeous Rubicons Moonlight ➡️ He is the sire of Kody and Taffy, as you are all very well aware. Well, this next year, Kristel would like a tobiano buckskin foal out of Jewels. If you remember, the four possibilities (very accurate since she did the DNA testing last year) are:
- Palomino (Taffy)
- Tobiano palomino
- Buckskin
- Tobiano buckskin
Well, we ought not to count our foal colors before the foal is even created, right? I will let you know after the fact when Jewels is bred and what the foaling date is, but for now? Well, having a stallion hanging around is quite convenient. Kristel has two mares now, Maggie ➡️ who consistently drops buckskin foals with Rubicon as sire, and Jewels, who gave us Taffy the bright-gold palomino last March. She and Susie got Rubicon all bathed and his mane braided so he will look nice for the ladies. And Jewels can’t wait to go swap “howdies” with him. It’s called “teasing” when the mare is kept near the stallion in order to get her into heat and be interested in having a foal.
Here’s a fun video of Rubicon getting beautified, of Jewels running around cuz she wants to be near him (a very good sign, since we thought fat “Twinkie” would never be interested in going into heat), and then the two of them touching noses and just being friendly. We hope it will eventually lead to something more serious. But for now, enjoy!

This is sooo exciting! I think a Tobiano Palomino or Tobiano Buckskin would be really neat 😊 – since we already saw 2 palominos and since Maggie will probably drop a buckskin foal.

When Taffy grows up you guys should breed her to produce a chocolate palomino!!! Then you could have a Shasta 😜.

Oooh yay!! I’m expecting my FIRST EVER foal at the end of this year, out of my Egyptian Arabian mare. I was lucky enough to find an Egyptian Arabian stallion so it will be a very special baby🤩
