More Tales from the Circle C Ranch

It’s official. My publisher picked up my Andrea Carter and More Tales from the Circle C Ranch. The book has an official cover now and an official release date: January 2025. However, I will get my copies of the book probably by Thanksgiving, which means I’ll have the books myself before Christmas. This new collection is very different from the old “orphan book,” Tales from the CC Ranch, which came out back in 2015. For one thing, the old book had a cover that was–in a word–not appealing. For another thing, the old Tales book had no home series. It was an orphan book in every respect, and it never did well. In fact, I have never even “earned out” my advance. That is crazy, since I earned out my advance within six months of the Milestones Tales books.

I think one reason for this is the fact that the old Tales books had stories that encompassed both Andi’s early life (Beginnings) and her older life (Adventures). This made it difficult to determine the audience, those who might be interested. The age-range was too broad (ages 5 – 13).

My publisher at Kregel Publications and the “team” clearly agreed, This time around, I updated (read: rewrote) every story from the old book that I wanted to keep–only stories that go along with the rest of the Circle C Adventures (Andi ages 11-13 only). I changed the first-person point of view to the traditional third person point of view, like the rest of the Circle Adventures. The book includes five new stories and four completely revised stories from the old Tales book.
