Thanks for playing, everyone! I’m glad you like it so much. I thought this would be an easy one, but you will not believe that so far this has been the hardest one of all (well, except for the first one, the jellyfish). The mystery picture is an image of “tree rings.”

And the winner is . . . Tennysen H., #24.

I was beginning to get a little desperate trying to find enough correct guesses to pull a winner out of the “hat” this time. I had 161 entries! But out of those entries, only 53 guessed either “tree rings” or “growth rings,” or “rings in the stump of a tree,” or I even accepted “cross section of a log.” In this case, it was not enough to simply say “tree,” “log,” “wood,” “tree trunk,” “inside of a tree” (that could mean looking into an owl’s hole in a tree).

Most wrong guesses said “stump” or “tree stump.” But there is no way to be sure this is a stump. It could be a log. It’s the “cross section” or “sliced” section of a tree stump (or log), which I accepted. So, sorry, my friends. I guess this one was harder than I thought it would be.

Fill in the Google Form with your answer. As usual, the guessing game runs one week, Thursday, June 6 – Wednesday, June 12 @5pm Pacific Time. Winner announced on Thursday June 13 on the blog and the winner is also notified by email and has 48 hours to claim the prize. Prizes are shipped to U.S. addresses only.
