Fan Fiction Friday!

Wow! Two fan fiction Fridays in the same month. That’s exciting. Today, we have another offering from Lily Lawrentz. It’s Jenny Grant’s (she says Jenny Grant is her favorite Circle C character) point of view before Andi arrives at Miss Whitaker’s Academy in San Francisco Smugglers.

I might as well confess that I had in mind writing a Jenny Grant series, and book 6 would be about Jenny’s adventures the fall and winter before Andi arrives, and the series would end with Andi’s arrival. Lily’s fan fiction story got me kind of excited about maybe going back to this (I started the series last October but lost interest because I could not think of exciting plots for the first book (or any of the rest), even though I created all six covers. *big sigh*

Anyway, enjoy Lily’s fan fiction!

I'm the author of the Circle C and Goldtown Adventures series. I blog as "Andi Carter," the main character in the Circle C series. She lives on a huge cattle ranch in 1880s California. These are her adventures.

  1. Wow, the cover is beautiful! 🤩I would love to see the others, but more than that I’d like to read the books! I know what it’s like to lose interest in a story, tho…I hope you write the Jenny series!!

    1. I had a subscription to Playground (an AI image creator), and the photos I could create were endless and very accurate to what i was looking for. However, the online company changed their vision to focus on logos and other things and moved away from pure photo creations. So sad! They refunded me the rest of my year’s subscription so now I’m not sure what I will do if I decide to move forward with any kind of a Jenny Grant series. But I did manage to create six cover images so maybe all is not lost! And a character page.

  3. The cover is super cool! Also, I am currently struggling with writer’s block right now, which is super annoying! 😩Does anyone have any tips to overcoming writer’s block? Thanks! ❤️

    1. Great question! I think all writers experience writer’s block occasionally. Here are some ideas to add to Enislee’s list:

      1. Exercise! Go out on a walk or run, or even a hike if you can! Exploring in God’s creation can help you to clear your mind, and exercise can “reset” your brain.
      2. Take a break from your writing! I sometimes take a five minute break and sometimes a two week break. You can choose to either not think about your story at all, or you can spend some time thinking about your plot/storyline. Sometimes for me, straying too far from the storyline can cause the story to slow down, often causing writer’s block.
      3. Explain your storyline to a friend or family member. This often helps me to think more clearly about my stories. Ask them if they think the story is flowing well.
      4. Pray! God gave you this ability to write. He can help you write for His glory, and if you are, He will help you write well.
      5. Read your story from the beginning. I often do this after I take a break. This can help you see how the story is developing and give you an idea of where you want it to go from there.
      6. Make sure you have a good idea of how the story will progress and end. Write with the end in mind, and your story will naturally progress there.

I hope this helps! Writer’s block is frustrating, but don’t let that get in the way of any creative ideas coming to mind!

  4. Hi Anonymous , as a writer myself I experience writers block ALL the time . Now none of these are PRO tips ….. so …..

1 . Taking a break and try to not think about your writing as much as possible . Then once you go back to start again you have a clear head .

2 . Don’t expect to much out of yourself . A lot of the time (at least for me) I have way too high expectations for myself . So just make sure you have healthy standards .

3 . Ask someone else for their opinion . By asking someone what their opinion is on your problem , it can help you see a different side of things .

    Hope these helped !
