From Fans to Friends

Over the years, I have received very special emails about how Andi fans met through Andi’s blog, received permission from parents to email one another, and eventually meeting in person. I have chronicled a few of them in this post. There is also a link to another fan’s blog with more photos and snippets.

Hey Mrs. Marlow,

On Wednesday, for the first time ever, me and two of my “best friends ever” stood in the same room together. For three years, Kate, Faith, and I have been besties online. I’ve been blessed to meet them both, but they had never met each other. This past week, Faith’s family came through Kansas and all three of us were able to get together.

These girls have been with me through some of the most difficult times in my life, and they’re among the closest friends I’ve ever had and I never would have even known they existed if it hadn’t been for the Andi books and Andi’s blog. After Faith left yesterday I got to thinking. Some of the strongest and best friends I have I either met through Andi’s blog, or through someone I met on Andi’s blog.

I cannot begin to tell you how much I’ve been blessed through your blog. God has used it in such a mighty way to connect me with people who I don’t think I could live without. These girls have not only become close friends, they’ve encouraged and challenged me both in my writing and in my walk with Christ. And after knowing Kate and Faith for 3 years and finally being able to be with them both together…it was something so amazing and special. I don’t even really have words to describe it.

I just wanted to say thank you. For writing the Andi books, for keeping the blog up, for starting the chat box. God used you through your books to impact my life in so many ways. I can’t imagine not knowing these amazing girls. And we never would have met if it hadn’t been for a certain book series and a certain blog.

I can never thank you enough. Your books changed my life in more ways then one. I’ve attached a picture of the three of us, as well as something of a chart of the people I’ve been blessed to meet and become close to through you and your blog.
Thank you again for writing the books and everything you do for all us fans. It’s more of a blessing then you could ever imagine. 🙂 Jesseca Dawn

An amazing update on Jesseca Dawn. She is getting married. To whom, you might ask? To the brother of Emily McConnell (aka Calamity Renee)! The two girls became friends and as time went on, Jesseca and Emily’s brother began to correspond between WA and KS. Both are paramedics and she had questions. Yep, guess what? They ended up engaged and are marrying June 2022! God really, really loves to work in our lives in the most interesting ways!

I get shivers whenever I read emails like the one above. Here is another letter from a fan who found lifelong friends via the blog.

Kaitlyn K. and Olivia

Mrs. M,

Over four years ago (it was probably closer to five, honestly), I met a girl named Olivia on your chat box. We hit it off pretty well, since we had two things in common: a love for the Circle C books, and a love for writing. She started a blog, which you featured on your sidebar, and, loving what I saw, I became a quick follower!

To make a long story short, Olivia and I became writing/critique partners and close friends. Over the years, we talked about getting to see each other someday. And finally, it became a reality. Last week, we met in person for the first. Time. Ever. Needless to say, it was amazing! 😉

So, I just wanted to say thank you, thank you, thank you for being a part of our story! You may not have known it then, but God used your chat box to bring two friends from two different worlds together, and we will never forget it. Here is a picture of us…we have better ones, but this one is with horses, and Andi loves horses. So there’s that. 😉 Thank you SO MUCH again! Kaitlyn K. (and Olivia)

Here is an incredible email that connected two Andi fans 4,400 miles apart. Hannah (from England), who connected with Anna here in the States. They eventually met face to face in the United States.

Hannah M. and Anne M.

Hi Mrs. Marlow!

I just wanted to let you know about something really special that happened about a month ago. Do you remember in early 2015 exchanging emails for me and a girl named Anne M.? Well, we corresponded via email all last year, and ended up meeting each other in August of last year for an afternoon.

Well, our friendship has continued! All of this year, we’ve messaged each other daily, and have been hoping and praying to get to meet again. Finally about a month ago, it happened! Because we live about 4000 miles apart, it’s not something we took lightly, and it was such an answer to prayer to spend 3 days with each other.

Anyways, I just wanted to let you know this, because it’s all because of the CCA blog that we met! God truly does work in mysterious ways, and he used your blog to orchestrate the start of this amazing friendship. Thank you for all your hard work in writing books and keeping the blog up! I hope you feel encouraged at how appreciated both things are!

Emily McConnell (aka Calamity Rene)

Here is another fun testimony regarding the friends that another fan, Calamity Rene (aka Emily McConnell) has made through Andi’s Blog. Wow, I had no idea so many godly relationships have been budding through the years because of a fictional character (Newsflash: Andrea Carter is a fictional character). You can read Emily’s fun experiences making lifelong friends here. EMILY (CALAMITY RENE), JESSECA, AND IVY FINALLY MEET!

I’m humbled beyond belief that I had any part in this. You might know the old song Pass It On. “It only takes a spark to get a fire going . . .” Indeed, I feel like a spark of true friendship that could last an eternity has been lit because of a fictional character. God works in so many ways to bring us joy. Thanks, ladies, for sharing. And you younger fans, keep connecting with each other. You too can enjoy lasting, godly friendships.
