Something new and different! Those who would like to participate in the first Circle C Scavenger Hunt will explore a page on Andi’s blog and see if you can find the answers to 15 fun trivia questions. The answers to all of the questions (yes, every single one) can be found on the Circle C Family Tree and Timelines page in either the family tree or the timelines. Keep reading to find out how to play.
Scavenger Hunt is active for one week, Monday, January 23 – Monday, January 30. Winner of the Hunt will be announced Tuesday, January 31. U.S. mailing addresses only, please.
The winner will be selected in a random drawing from the answers that come in with 100% correct. But guess what? Even if you don’t win, every person who participates in the Scavenger Hunt (submits their entry) gets a participation prize. This Scavenger Hunt’s participation prize is the link to the “Andi’s Orphan Calf” audio short story. That’s right. I am not putting it up on the Audio Stories page for a long, long time. It’s a special gift for everybody who enters the Scavenger Hunt, whether you win or not.
The Prize
The prize is your choice of one of these new Circle C Gift Packs: a journal, pen, magnet, and (new) acrylic keychain!

How to Play
Click the button to start your Scavenger Hunt! After you complete the hunt, submit your entry. The next page pops up and contains a link to the “Andi’s Orphan Calf” audio book. You can stream it from there or download it for later listening fun. Thanks for playing and have fun!
A word to the wise. I have received a huge number of entries so far. However, it is obvious that many of you are not reading the questions carefully or looking over the timelines and the family tree carefully for the answers. Hint: The answers are right there, and there are no trick questions. Some math may be required to figure out an answer. You may, of course, use a calculator. 👌
Examples of carelessness: One question asks how old Riley was when he first came to the Circle C. The person answered the question with a date instead of Riley’s age. Another question asked for a month and a year, but the person gave only the year (or only the month). These are examples of carelessness in not reading the question well, and I have marked them as “wrong.”
So far, I have only half a dozen 100% answers. Please do not ask me if you are one of the “lucky six” who read and answered the questions carefully.

Almost done!
Just had a question, for 12 -12. As of 1890, how many “Carter Cousins” are there- when you said Carter Cousins, does that mean all cousins of Andi or Jared? Or both?
LikeLike
There is a Carter Cousins tab. “Hunt” for it. You can use the search box if you get stuck.
LikeLike
Yeah, because Andi’s cousin would be Daniel but if you are talking about Jared’s cousin it would be all of Andi’s sibling’s children. But if you’re talking about Elizabeth’s grandchildren then it would also include Andi’s children.?????????????
LikeLike
Well, for one thing, it’s 1890 so Daniel is dead. LOL
Also, you are making this WAY TOO HARD. It’s not a trick question.

On question 12 does it mean like Andi’s cousins or is it Andi’s nephews and nieces?
LikeLike
It’s the Carter Cousins tab

I don’t know where that is, is it Andi’s cousins or is it Andi’s nephews and nieces? Or is it Jared cousins? lol, confused here!

I don’t know if you have this but if you have a bar that says ‘search andi’s blog’ above the blog posts, than click on that and search carter cousins tab. Hope that helps!

One of the questions is “How old was Riley when he came to stay on the Circle C?” Is this when he was a boy, or when Chad hired him as a Rangler?

The first time. Good question. I’ll fix that.

I’m confused about question 14. Elizabeth as no younger siblings.

Yes she does. If you click the helpful hint “link” at the top of the scavenger hunt, you will find what you are looking for after “hunting” a bit.

I don’t see a helpful hint link but is the question referring to Elizabeth Kate Swanson?

Sorry, my bad. I thought the children were listed in age order.

Hi y’all. I have received a ton of responses (yay!) but many of you are not being careful. For example, if I ask how old Riley was when he first came to the ranch, and you give me the YEAR he came to the ranch, that is wrong.
There are a number of careless mistakes similar to that example. READ CAREFULLY because careless answers are counted as being wrong. (Since every answer is easy to find from the link.)

Alright! 🙂 Sent mine in already, hope I got them all right but we’ll see!
This is super fun Mrs M!! You might want to do another sometime!! (hint) LOL 🙂 🙂 🙂

I would like to do another one sometime, but so far, I’m getting questions (in the comments) that seem like readers are not reading carefully, so I’m wondering if it’s worth the trouble. I hadn’t planned on spending so much time trying to answer questions. *sigh*

Hmm..true. I’ll try to see if I can answer any when they come in. 🙂

Well…. That’s nice, but I would like to see readers able to figure it out. It’s pretty easy to follow if you ask me. 🤪

Mrs M, is there a reason why when I click on “Start the Scavenger Hunt” it comes up with a blank screen? Did anyone else have this problem or is it just my computer? I can do it through my mom’s but I was just wondering 🙂
LikeLike
If it works when you use your mom’s computer, then clearly it is either a device issue or a browser issue. You could try a different browser. No one else has said a word about having trouble. I tried it from my phone, though, and it does not work. But from my computer? The link works fine.

I did not realize that the audio story was there when I finished. Would you be able to send the link to my email? If not that’s fine.

I don’t have your email. The link was on the very next screen that showed up after you pushed “submit.” You could not have missed it!

These questions have changed since I sent mine in! Just wondering if I should redo it or something?
For 12 it is currently -As of the end of 1890, how many “Carter Cousins” (Elizabeth’s grandchildren) are there? –
Before when I sent mine in it was -How many “Carter Cousins are there?-
than it changed to How many “Carter Cousins” (Elizabeth’s grandchildren) are there?-
than it changed to -As of the end of 1890, how many “Carter Cousins” (Elizabeth’s grandchildren) are there? –
Just been checking back to it every once a while wanting to do it again lol
Soooo I know I didn’t send in the right answer bc I did Carter Cousins after 1890 but that’s what the question was.
I don’t care if I win or not, I just enjoyed doing this so much Mrs Marlow!
Sorry for all the questions!!
tysm Mrs M!!

It was always “As of 1890, how many Carter Cousins are there?”
It was never the general “How many Carter Cousins are there?” I figured they could count the squares….. And see the date, 1890.
That assumes the END of 1890, but clearly some kids could not figure that out so I clarified with “the end.”

I’m a little confused on the audio short story. The post said that a link would be sent out in an email, but a couple of the comments mention the link coming up on a new page after the entry is submitted. I didn’t see this when I turned in my entry. Did I overlook it, or will the link be sent out after the contest is over?

It shows up when you submit your answers and that is the only time you can find it. 🙂
There is a link that says ‘Andi Orphan Calf’ and you click it and it takes you to a page on this blog.

I completed the form (the hunt was really fun. Thanks for doing it, Mrs. M), but the link kept taking me to Google search or something. When I tried to leave and come back to test the link again, my form had cleared, and I couldn’t get back to the link.

That is very strange since I just saw the link a day or two ago. I will check it out….

I completed the survey to test it out, and after you “submit” a new page comes up and the link to the audio book is right there, and it works. It must have been your device? There was nothing to fix, so I don’t know why it did not work for you.
