For all of you who are asking about the next Circle C story writing contest, I’m truly thinking about it, but it may end up being a winter/spring combo and will launch near the end of February. I can’t think beyond nine goats kidding in the next two weeks. Really! Added to that, we nearly lost two goats during the recent “Arctic Blast” where we’re spending the winter in Texas. Crazy, crazy weather. So, my mind has been on saving horses and saving goats. And saving ourselves (when we took the horses out of the temporary stables when the weather moderated, we experienced a serious rodeo. You’d think it would be with the 16hh+ Rubicon Stallion, but oh no! It was . . . KODY! Such a bad boy that only Mr. M could handle him. And just barely. I bet Chad Carter would have had a hard time too. That colt is just too much horse for this little ranch.

So . . . Kody will be sold in the summer, just over a yearling, when his coat sheds and his final coloring comes out. He’s worth a bundle. He is sweet and gentle–until he decides he wants to be crazy. And then . . . just . . . wow!

And our goat herd sire, Maverick, a gorgeous Nubia buck, has done nothing but bawl all night long! He misses the girls. For a while, because of the cold, Mav got to stay indoors in the temporary stalls, but now that the girls are kidding, we need the stalls for them. Out he goes.
