Coming Soon! Art Contest!

In the past, I’ve hosted numerous Circle C writing contests, so for a summer “change,” just for fun, instead of a writing contest, I am going to host an art contest. With judges and everything. And prizes, of course. Why? Well, because not every Andi fan and reader is a writer. It’s time to include those who enjoy expressing themselves through art. (But that doesn’t mean writers can’t enter. Anybody can, even if you have written and won Circle C writing contests. The more the merrier.)

Perhaps you have seen the brand-new image Other Contests Photos and Art ➑️ on the Contests tab? You can click it and see two new additions: Art Contests and Look-a-like Contests. You can click the Look-a-like image and see all of the fun look-a-like entries over the past year or two. However, the “Art Contests” you can not click. It’s locked for now. Alas, you will not be able to click it until . . . June 20. That is when I launch the contest. One month from now.

Although I don’t want to give any pre-contest hints, I will say that there will be six prize packages for six winners. Yes, that’s right! Six winners! How does that work? Well, first of all, I am dividing the contest into two age categories: Ages 8-12 and Ages 13-17. Under each age category, I am dividing the entries into three categories: characters, horses/animals, and settings. I won’t say more about how each category works until the contest is launched. That way, no one can get a head start. The contest runs for a whole month, so that is plenty of time in the middle of the summer (no school!) to create your masterpieces.

So, here’s where I need another one of our famous voting ideas. Shall I gather judges and have them pick a winner from each of the six age/entry categories? Or shall I have a readers’ voting (like I did on the look-a-like photo contest)? If you vote for readers’ choice, I would still need to narrow it down to the top six in each category. Regardless of how I run the judging, though, all of the entries will be posted a day or two after the contest ends on July 18, so everyone can enjoy everybody’s creations.

Give me your opinion in the comments. But please, do not ask any questions relating to the contest until it is actually launched. After the launch date, you may ask me anything you want. I will enable the comments on the contest page for that purpose on June 20.

I hope you are as excited about this opportunity as I am!

  1. I was literally just thinking about the summer contest. I think judges choice is best for something with this many winners. I’m excited, I enjoy both art and writing, but art is easier for me lol.

  2. I’m so excited!!!! Thank you for doing this, Mrs. M!
I think that Judges choice would be best -with such variety in style, I think it work better that way.

  3. I think judges choice would be best since there can be a wide variety in style. Plus, with so many winners it would be hard for us readers to choose!

  4. Wow, this looks like fun! Even though I’m better at writing, I will do this anyway!πŸ˜€ I like doing readers choice, but I think for this contest it would be better for the judge to judge this one.

Also, are you still doing the readers voting thing for the past look alike contests, Mrs. Marlow?

  5. My family says I am good at drawing, but I think they’re just saying that to make me feel better about doing it. Don’t get me wrong I love doing it, but I think talent isn’t in there!
