I’ve got a lot on my plate and I almost forgot about the fall writing contest. Yikes. A few sweet queries via comments and/or emails have come my way. Thanks for your questions. Yes, I am hosting the Circle C fall writing contest, October 10-November 13. Originally, because I’m headed for Texas December 3-17, I was going to use judges for this contest, since I don’t have time to have judges pick the top 4 and then have readers judge before I fly out. (Winners will be announced Tuesday, November 19). However, with the news of Colleen Reece’s sudden departure, I may have to rely on only one judge to help me sort out the winners. I really do like to have more than one, so I may end up doing a Reader’s Choice Voting after all. In that event, although I can easily host the Reader’s Choice Voting when I’m in Texas, I will not be able to award and send the prizes (U.S. mailing addresses only) until after I return from Texas on December 17. *sigh* Life is complicated.
Here’s more: By popular demand, this will be a photo and/or word prompt contest. In other words, you may choose either a photo to get your imagination going or a word prompt. I have thought of a few prompts but I have not found any pictures yet. I have deadlines for the two short-story books that are #7 and #8 in the Circle C Adventures series. (I’ll show covers soon), since my publisher wants to release them practically on top of each other (Book 7 January and book 8 in the spring instead of next fall).
But I can show you the prizes. One winner from each age category (ages 9-12 and ages 13-17) will choose one item from each category to “pick their prizes.”
So, here is a call to action. Send me your images, ones you think might make good @ CircleCAdventures@gmail.com

Oh! This will be fun! I’ll have to dig around and try to find some photos. 😀 Do you want word prompts with the photos or just photos? Figured I’d ask.

Hi! I had a couple ideas for word and photo prompt.
For word prompts, you could do either “Andi has found a new pet. What is it? And what adventure (and trouble!) will it bring?” OR “Andi doesn’t really realize how hard it is to care for a large family on a poor ranch… until she breaks her ankle and finds her work three times as hard!”
For photo prompts (sorry, I don’t have any pictures) could you do one about a bear or one about Riley as a boy training a horse?
thanks! Can’t wait!
