Since you readers like to hear about the real Taffy, here is a current (yesterday!) video of Kristi working with Taffy to behave herself and lift her front legs. Poor Taffy has a rare form of laminitis, when the farrier believes affected her because of the stress of moving as a young foal last year. Her front leg bones need to be rotated, so the farrier slices away at her hoof in order to force the leg bone to rotate and heal. (poor baby!)
In the meantime, without the padded boots, Taffy would hardly be able to walk and would probably lie down for much of the day. The boots keep her walking, since it’s like walking on soft rubber and painless.
Here is a fun 1.5-minute video showing Taffy (in her baseball cap and protective boots) and her little trainer, Kristi (in her very unprotected flip flops). What is my daughter thinking? Well, I guess she’s thinking like Andi. Taffy is such a sweet, laidback and friendly filly that Andi goes barefoot when riding when it’s hot and she just wants to jump on her back. I guess Kristi is following in Andi’s footsteps, as in “Please can I go out and help train Taffy instead of doing schoolwork?”
Clearly, today is that day. Enjoy!

Thanks for posting! Always so fun to check out videos of the horses!
(I’ve never found a horse wearing a baseball cap before… now I have! LOL)
Tell Kristi to watch her toes! 😀
