Name the Filly!

She has a 1 in 4 (25%) chance of being one of the following (since the odds are perfectly divided, no sense in having a guessing party):

  • palomino (like Taffy)
  • palomino tobiano
  • buckskin
  • buckskin tobiano

The prize for choosing the name that “sticks” is . . . any Circle C book from this list:

Sad News

I have some sad news. After extensive treatment and care (almost a year’s worth!) for Taffy’s laminitis/foundering condition, the decision was made not to extent her pain and misery. She could barely walk, the farrier work was not helping, and then she develped an abcess and it was beginning to “ooze” between the hoof and the coronet. Flies let us know about this new development. Poor filly! Kristel and I took her on her last ride to the vet. She was miserable, but they gave her a sedative before leading her away. Needless to say, there were a few tears shed . . . but it’s not right to keep an animal in pain just because she is so pretty to look at.

We will miss you, Taffy Kandy!

  1. oh no! I am so sorry about Taffy! Thank you guys for doing what was best for her though – even if it was hard to say goodbye.

I will be thinking of a name for the foal

    1. Oh my goodness. I’m so sorry about Taffy. That must’ve been so hard to say goodbye. I’m glad she is not suffering anymore, but it’s still so sad to lose a pet.

  2. I know it must be hard for you guys. At least Taffy is not in pain anymore. Praying! And praying for a safe delivery for Jewels as well!

  3. Poor Taffy! Good-bye, girl!

Question… For the naming contest, do I need to put a full name like “Jewels Taffy Kandy” or could I just put “Taffy” (As an example). Thanks!

  4. Hi! Does the name have to BEGIN with Jewels or merely include Jewels? For example, Sparkling Jewel (Sparkle for short) instead of Jewels’ Sparkle? Hope that makes sense!

    1. When I submitted I was allowed one name choice for if the filly is a palomino, and one name for if she is a buckskin! Total of two!
