Hopefully Today!

No foal yet and her due date was last night (well, June 5). All that fussing and pre-labor for nothing! But here is the pH strip (as if that means anything these days). I’m thinking it only gives false hope. LOL

However, joy of joys, Jewels has suddenly turned into what Kristel calls “the triangle.” She is very happy to see this sudden change (yesterday or the day before) because it means the foal is in the right position (head and front feet first).

If you look closely, the illustrators have superimposed what the foal’s position looks like when it’s ready to be born. The horse on the left, the sorrel, shows this. It’s so cool! As you can see, Jewels has that “V” in her belly that is the foal’s rump, so Kristel is relaxing. At this point, the foal will come within ten minute after the water breaks. That’ what happened last time. I said, “Kristel! Look. Her water just broke.” We were leading her from the smaller stall into the larger stall along the outside sidewalk and it broke.

Ten minutes later Taffy was lying on the stall, born. So a foal’s healthy birth goes very fast! I told Kristel to keep that video going or we will all miss it! She’ll probably get Kristi to do the filming.

Updated photo. Jewels is biting her sides and really miserable. I vote for TODAY!/TONIGHT

  1. Awesome! Soo excited! Yay! We are all hanging on to our hats in anticipation over here on the East Coast lol. Keep us posted! Question, are all of these signs considered stage one labor?
