Jewels and Treasure Outside

The weather has been horrible in Texas. Rain, rain, rain. Treasure (Trissy) is so smart and so active. She’s more active than Taffy was at her age (2 years ago) and when Kristel calls, this baby comes running! Kristel told me, “This foal is a true ‘Taffy,’ as she comes when she’s called.” Baby Taffy in 2023 was way more shy and we had to catch her to train her. Trissy is not shy and wants attention all of the time.

Scary news. Last week, Kristel let Jewels and Trissy outside. Trissy ran so far and fast that she ran smack into the hot wire! It was terrible! Kristel got herself shocked trying to rescue her sweet baby. Then, once rescued, Trissy ran the other way and into the other side of the pasture and got tangled in the other hot wire. By now, she was trembling and shaking, but thank the Lord, Kristel never let them alone, or she might have died (not from the electricity, but from the trauma on a newborn’s immune system). Trissy was traumatized but recovered by the next day.

So, they replaced the hot wire (live and learn) with field fencing like they had in California. With a new foal due next week (the colt out of Maggie), these fences need to be secure! Here is a brand-new video finally lettting mama and foal out in the big, wide world. Trissy LOVES it. She runs and runs and runs. Enjoy! (two and a half minutes).
