The Colt’s Name

At last! Nearly 100 names (98) were submitted. Poor Kristel. Yikes! She had quite a time settling on the name for our silver buckskin colt. Click the video to hear Kristi announcing not only the colt’s name, but also his “barn” name (nickname). Congratulations to Melissa Wiebe and Macey Barron for submitting names that Kristel chopped up and then combined (like she did with Jewels Moonlight Treasure). Sadly, she did not end up using any of the names I particularly liked, highlighted, and sent to her, but the name she chose is perfect for a flashy silver buckskin like Knightley.

His sire is Rubicons Moonlight. Kody is Royal Dakota Moon. Now we have Regal Knight Moon. She is sensing a pattern here.

Here’s a very nice 30-second video of Regal at two days old. His legs! His blaze! His beautiful face! And sweet mama, Maggie (Who’s official registered name is Maggies Music Bar.) Who thinks of these names? Here are some other interesting ones from Maggie’s pedigree.

  3. Knightly is so fitting, he really does look regal!!! I’m sure when he grows up he’ll outshine all the other colts!! What a little beauty!!! He is so adorable!!!

  4. Wow lol. He is one striking foal. I have no idea how people even think of names like they do, but we have definitely run into some crazy ones before! I once saw a champion dog and his registered name was like “Magnificent Meatball” or something like that. He had quite a nice plethora of awards. The name turned me off though lol. I feel like it was a three or four word name all starting with m. I remember there was something with meatballs. 😂 The range used for registered names is absolutely mind blowing.
