Knightley & the Trailer

Kristel took Maggie to the vet to see how she’s doing (fertility-wise), and of course baby Knightley had to accompany her. Great! It’s always a great time for colt training, and one month old is a perfect time to start “trailer” training. Right? Of course right!

Everything went well. Maggie is “ready to go” to actually have another foal. The vet gave this older mare a clean bill of health, and Kristel would love a little filly this time. She found all of Maggie’s former foals: two fillies and two colts (with Knightley that makes three colts. Next it’s time for a filly!) . And including Knightley it makes FOUR buckskins and one palomino.

But then . . . Knghtly dug in his heels and refused to get out of the trailer when they got home! Even when Mama got out. Can you believe that? It’s hilarious. Enjoy this 3-minute video. Then . . . scroll down and take a peek at Maggie’s past foals.

Four of Maggie’s previous foals. Aren’t they gorgeous?

And this is MAGGIE”S SIRE: a chocolate palomino. Kristel wants a chocolate pally!

And get this! I used this photo to portray SHASTA. I had no idea he was our Maggie’s real sire. Small world, isn’t it?

  1. Looks like he liked the trailer a little too much… XD Horses can be so stubborn at times.

And Maggie’s foals are GORGEOUS! I love Jesse’s coloring. But fingers crossed for a chocolate palomino filly! Did Rubicon sire all of Maggie’s foals?

And her chocolate palomino sire is absolutely STUNNING! I always think the creamy white mane and tale in contrast to such a dark body is breathtaking– and it’s so funny that you used that picture in the past without realizing the connection!

  2. I thought they weren’t going to breed Maggie again? Didn’t they have some issues when Knightley was born?

Also, love the fact that you used that picture without knowing! That’s hilarious. XD

    1. She took Maggie in to the vet to have her have a check to see if she could do it and that said she is perfectly healthy no reason not to breed her again and the issue was Rubicon throws foals with really wide shoulders so as long as they keep that in mind there shouldn’t be any trouble

  3. That makes sense. We have VBS this week to. I’m helping with it and I get how busy you can get.

    What church is it at?

  4. Aww! Knightly is so precious. I think he maybe felt a little nervous about stepping down from the trailer. Some horses who aren’t trailer experts are nervous about that at first.

  5. I think Chocolate Palominos are just gorgeous! Our Chocolate boy, Diamond, is a beautiful chocolate color in the winter and in the summer if he is in the sun a lot he fades to a stunning chocolate/golden dapple.
