Andi’s Blog rarely posts about other animals besides horses (and maybe goats once in a while), but today we get to hear from a special guest blogger, who runs Kingdom Kenelz, and she and her sisters are Andi fans. So, I figure that qualifies, right?

With no further ado, let me introduce you to this fascinating home business from Trinity at Kingdom Kenelz. In her own words . . .

“First of all, thank you very much Mrs M, for allowing me this opportunity! I really appreciate it! The Andi Carter books have always been popular among our entire family. The Andi Carter blog just made them come alive in a whole new way! When I told my sister I was going to be allowed to share on the Andi Carter blog, to say she was surprised is a major understatement.

Now, to get down to business. My name is Trinity with Kingdom Kenelz Labradors. Kingdom Kenelz Labradors is a family-owned breeding, training, titling, and boarding kennel located on the East Coast of the United States. If you haven’t guessed it, we have lots of Labrador Retrievers! We raise healthy and versatile 100% purebred Labrador Retrievers that contribute to the world around them- from therapy and service dogs, to competition, hunting, companion, and family dogs.
Our puppies are adopted to forever homes all over the USA. NY, NJ, Connecticut, Utah, Ohio, Pennsylvania, NC, VA, Florida… Yes! We even have one who is currently living in California!

I got my first Labrador when I was 11. By the time I was 13, we had six Labradors. I love training both dogs and horses. Now, I specialize in educating other people on how to work with their dogs. Becoming a breeder and a trainer, I learned that one of the main problems is rarely does one ever bother to educate the people. You send your dog away to a trainer and the trainer fixes the dog. But if you don’t know how to work with that newly trained dog, he/she is going to go back to old habits. Even the first 8 weeks of your pup’s life can be so critical. It can affect that dog for the rest of it’s life. I watched people get puppies from breeders and observed that the breeders had sometimes already taught the puppy bad habits. The more I observed, the more I realized that most of these problems will go away on their own with a little bit of adjustment from the owner. The more I got into being a breeder and trainer, the more I discovered.

I love training. It is so rewarding to see all your hard work pay off. Training was one of the ways I could watch that happen. One thing I started to explore, was the world of competition. I discovered that I loved bringing the dogs to competitions. It didn’t take long for our dogs have competed with both the American and United Kennel Clubs. After all the hard work and training I had put into them, it was so much fun to watch it pay off! And they would get a ribbon for it! This led me to start a titling program, where I am now hired to win awards for people on their dog. This is one of my favorite pastimes.

We also screen all potential adoptive families, even performing a veterinarian reference check to ensure that our puppies are indeed going to forever family homes. When you know the puppy is going to a good home, it changes how you walk into it completely! It is so rewarding to match somebody with their future companion, and watch them just fall in love on puppy adoption day. As all people who adopt from us are part of our “Extended Labrador Family”, we don’t just get to be part of when the puppy is adopted. People bring puppies back for visits, and stay in touch! We are just as a part of watching the puppies grow as if they were still in the family.

Another aspect was getting into the world of animal therapy. We have certified therapy dogs. Animals reach places that people never can. It is amazing to watch.
Well, that is about all I have to say. I will say this, if you are looking for training, boarding, titling, therapy, or even your next pet, don’t hesitate to reach out to us!”

Hi Faith! Nice to hear about your own doggies. Being a Therapy Dog does not necessarily require special tricks or extensive training. Therapy Dogs are different from Service Dogs. Your dog has to be calm, safe, and just well mannered! They don’t even have to know how to sit on command as long as they can walk nice on a leash and not become a hazard for anybody. If your dog will just sit for some pets and pats, you might qualify! And, although your dog has to be old enough to become a Therapy Dog, there’s never a time when they are too old! Blessings!

Hope! Sorry! Faith, Hope & Love are three middle names of some of our dogs. π It sometimes gets confused!

I also wanted to say, just because your dog isn’t calm right now it doesn’t mean you can’t train her/him to be!

I have also worked with both labradoodles and golden retrieves! They both (especially golden’s) can make excellent Therapy Dogs. π
