Somebody really needs to tell me to GET BACK TO WRITING. I have finished chapter 12 of book 2 but it’s much more fun to create covers. LOL Okay, so I “get it.” Everybody (pretty much) like the Zoomed out version. My daughter said Jenny looked like she was “blind,” so I gave her a different face.
Then, out of the blue, I created this version. I really like how closely the two kids resemble my vision of Micah and Jenny. So, here is a new cover to go up against the “lots of action” cover. So hard to decide. “Lots of action” or the anticipation of action, like they’re just getting ready to have a log-rolling contest.
And guess what! I found a place where I can turn an image into a VIDEO. Can you imagine a fun book trailer with this image turned into a video? Okay, I’ve GOT to get back to work, but since it’s photo Friday, I’ll ask you to vote again, and I’ll also put up some fun images.
Cover One

Cover Two – (new face)

If you want to read the first chapter of book one (sorry, no, they’re not log rolling in book one. These covers are for book two), you can click over, sign up, and then get chapter one. (I’ll do this for book two later on this summer.) I added Gideon to this sign-up image.

And since it’s Photo Friday, here are a few fun illustrations I hope Kregel will use. Enjoy!

And last but not least, this colorized image I created.

Get back to writing, Mrs. M! We want more books!! (Did that work?)
I like the second cover better. They kind of look like they are staring off into nothingness on the first cover, and I like that there’s more action in the second one.

Yeah, I figured that’s the way it will end up going. Lol. But I can use the one I like for marketing, even though I have to agree that action is better.

Does Kregel allow AI art in their covers and illustrations??

Who knows? If they don’t, then I will ask their graphics team to draw or paint something similar. I can send in concepts that I like as ideas.
I love creating images. It’s so much fun.

Guessing from how much AI art nixes book sales I doubt they will ‘XD I would love to see a HUMAN made version of this cover, but AI art for me personally is a no-go no matter how good the book.

I seriously doubt that people on Amazon that are looking for books go and investigate to see whether the cover has been made with AI or not.
I’m happy to have human made artwork but in the past I’ve seen some of those covers and they’re dorky from different publishers. Cartoony and not very well done because publishers can’t afford to pay an artist what they’re worth. Interestingly enough this is the perfect example on my Gold Town beginnings the artist I wanted who did the beginnings and the stepping stones and did a fantastic job My publisher couldn’t afford her anymore because she raised her rates So they just got an illustrator from Turkey who did a okay job but clearly they did not choose to pay for his high class pictures so they’re just black and white thrown together illustrations.

yep, I like cover two. Cover one doesn’t even look natural; logs typically roll while they float so Jenny and Micah would have to be walking on it anyway.
also get back to writing!!

Well…. I’ve watched log rolling videos and the logs do not typically roll while floating. They just sit there and float until someone starts the action. 😉

I thought he was adorable even though my daughter said he looks like Annie from the Annie movie. And I said no I think he looks very cute he looks just like I thought he should So I kept him as is. I had to put the him in Photoshop and cut and paste him onto my other other picture and do a whole lot of work but it was worth it because I really like the result

I think he’s cute and I can definitely imagine Jenny’s brother looking like that! He also resembles pretty well the Playground image you made of him awhile back!

#2…all the way!!! They look stiff in #1 and Jenny looks like she’s being forced to smile (like she’s getting her picture taken). While #2 is much more natural. I LOVE the pictures! The new series look so exciting!🥳❤️
