This post is jampacked with two creative opportunities this month: writing and art! First off is the ever-popular Flash Fiction. The response has been more than I ever hoped for. Your 1,000-word stories are a delight to me, my judge, and other Andi fans (on the blog). Someone requested that I create a “school-oriented” prompt and image, so I did. You can choose Andi’s age for both of the Circle C prompts.

Along with the requested school prompt, I included my originally planned image of Andi hiding in the stable/barn, as well as the Goldtown image and prompt. It’s amazing that the last two winners wrote Goldtown stories! You just never know. Here are the three prompts from which you may choose your adventure. The rules are below. You may click the image or the button to submit your story on the Google Form.

RULES:

• Story must stay below 1,000 words.
• Andi (or the Goldtown characters) may be any age.
• Deadline: Monday, August 31 @ 5pm Pacific Time (no exceptions).
• Stories accepted only via the Google Form.

Next up is the ART CONTEST. A number of you have been waiting for this! And August is the best month, when most of you are out of school and have time to be creative with colored pencils, charcoal, paints, and other mediums. You may see the only other art contest I have ever hosted by going here 👉 ART CONTEST 2024.

The only difference between that art contest and this one is the previous contest included a prompt, and the artwork must reflect that prompt. This time around, it’s wide open. Whatever you want to draw, paint, model, color is only limited by this one rule: It must have something to do with either the Circle C settings and characters or the Goldtown settings and characters. I’m not dividing it up like last time into categories.

This is not a fancy art contest with huge prizes like last year. Just a fun addition to the bi-monthly writing contest. Carefully read the rules below to learn how to submit.

• No prompt. You are free to choose any Circle C or Goldtown character, setting, or situation.
• You must include a 1-2 sentence description of your art project with your submission.

• If you do not have a Google Account, you may reply to this email to submit (include your 1-2 sentence description with your project). JPG, PNG, or PDF only. These are your only 2 submission options (unless you want your entry to get lost). 🫣
• All entries must be photographed and uploaded to the Google form or attached to the email.
• Winner notified by email. Winner announced and artwork posted by September 7.
