Here’s a really nice video of Taffy, Kody, and especially Jewels running in the wind. I know it’s not really an Andi post, but hey, the name “Taffy” is included, and it’s the best I can come up with this week. When the writing contest ends, I will start posting the stories as “fan fiction,”Continue reading “Running in the Wind”

That’s right! Kristel had a free ultrasound today at the equine hospital so she could bring the mares in to find out if they are having a filly or a colt. Maggie’s foal was way too active (and 20 days younger than Jewels’s foal), so alas. Maggie will have to wait until I go downContinue reading “Jewels Gender Reveal”

Since you readers like to hear about the real Taffy, here is a current (yesterday!) video of Kristi working with Taffy to behave herself and lift her front legs. Poor Taffy has a rare form of laminitis, when the farrier believes affected her because of the stress of moving as a young foal last year.Continue reading “Working with Taffy”

In my search to at least make an attempt to post something, I found a fun little update about the real “Taffy.” First of all, Kristi completed a Valley of Treasure Goldtown Adventures lapbook activity the other day. In the book, Aunt Rose packs a grub sack for Jem, Ellie, and Strike to take alongContinue reading “Taffy Update”

This is it. The final ultrasound, Lord willing, for Jewels (Taffy’s dam) and Maggie (the free mare who lost her first foal because of her age and lack of progesterone). Since she went into heat last month, Kristel has been giving her progesterone shots to hopefully maintain the pregnancy. At 16 days, she had aContinue reading “The Final Ultrasound”

Remember when I shared the good news about Maggie? She and Rubicon got together and she is in foal. Video showing the ultrasound 👉 Kristel has been trying to get Jewels interested in Rubicon (called “teasing” by breeders) but “Twinkie” (Jewels’s nickname, and it is not a compliment) would have nothing to do with him.Continue reading “Finally!”

This is a P.S. to Friday’s Video of Maggie (and Painted Acres) great news about Maggie being “in foal.” Remember when I told you Kristel wants a buckskin, and Maggie has produced 3 buckskins so far with Rubicon, the sire? Well . . . today, Kristel sent me a photo of Maggie’s sire, “Son ofContinue reading “Breaking News”

The real-life Taffy never fails to surprise us. For one thing . . . *gasp* it appears that our golden palomino filly is turning into a chocolate palomino! Her full adult color won’t show up until August, but today, Kristel got a big surprise bathing her and the after color. Unbelievable! I thought I’d shareContinue reading “Taffy Surprises Us”
