  1. I meant how much money it costs you to print your self – published books on Amazon KDP. About how much do they charge you for your author copies? I’m wondering bc I’d like to know before starting the process of publishing with them. Thx!

    1. Oh, okay. It doesn’t cost anything to put your book and cover up on KDP, and you get to set the price that you want to sell it for on Amazon. If you want author copies, the printing cost is dependent on the PAGE count, whether it’s BW or Color, paperback or hardback, and a variety of other factors. Without looking it up, I THINK one of my Fan Fun Extras costs me $3.25 per book (KDP’s printing cost). They don’t take a cut when authors buy their own books. But they do “soak” you for shipping. The best shipping percentage is when you buy at least 12 copies. The shipping for that will be somewhere between $9.00 – $12.00. That’s the way it is.

      If somebody buys your book on Amazon, KDP takes a cut (that’s how they make their money). They subtract the printing cost and then pay YOU a 60% royalty on what is left. For example, say your book costs KDP $3.00 to print and send the book to a customer. And say you set your book price at $10.00. They subtract the printing cost, so now you are left with $7.00, but you do not get the $7.00. You get 60% of the $7.00 and KDP keeps 40%, so on a ten-dollar book, you would make $4.20 on the book.

      Andis closeness to her dad is brought out in the books. Have you read them all?

      It seems strange for me to try and answer questions that you can learn by reading the books. 😉

    Also were the Carters actually born again Christians or was it like the Ingalls who believed in God, but didnt have a personal relationship with Christ?

    Also, did andi drift away from Justin after he got married? (in other words, were they not as close OR did they become closer)

    1. Yes, the Carters each have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, but some of them are farther along in their Christian walk than others in the family.

      Regarding the Ingalls. I would not be so quick to cast aside the Ingalls family as being merely God-fearing folks and not born again. You have to understand that authors like Laura Ingalls, when she wrote her series, did not include gospel messages or delved deeply into personal faith issues. (It just wasn’t done back in those days.) The fact that so much “religion” is mentioned in the older books leads me to believe that some of the family (especially Mary) might well have come to know Christ (as I believe from reading Helen Keller’s The Story of My Life that she too gives evidence of a life for God through Christ). Since we can never know their hearts, but their books clearly speak of their desire to live righteously (yes, I know living righteously on your own does not save you), but to me it shows evidence of their walk and gives me hope that I may indeed meet Laura Ingalls in heaven.

      As far as your other question . . . If you read the older series, that should give you insight into this question and answer it.

      As far as earrings for the girls. I never envisionsed them with earrings at any time. Corsets for Melinda, yeah, LOL, but never earrings. I just can’t “see” them wearing any. I guess that’s just me.

    I just thought for the Buckskin Foal, Shasta, after Taffy’s colt. Or Sunny even for the the Palomino.

    I also really like the name Starlit Sky, but that sounds like it is for a black horse.

    You know, in that fan fiction extras (Andrea Carter and the Trouble at the Line Shack) where it’s just Mitch and Andi?

    In the part where Mitch wakes up from that dream of his Mexican border ordeal, and Andi asks about it, and he says its none of her business (obviously in a much gentler way LOL); could I write a FF of that very thing (my imagination of his trip in Mexico)?

    Did Melinda ever feel jealous or sad that Andi married younger than her and had kids before her?

    How many people attended Andi and Riley’s reception (around how many)?

    Did Riley and Andi have more kids than the three? (after all wasn’t it common back then to have MUCH more kids) Why didn’t any of the Carter siblings have a lot of children?

    Who was the most well known Carter sibling in town? (or state, etc)

    Who is Andi’s favorite brother (besides Justin) (or if easier rank her favorite siblings in order)?

    1. No, Melinda did not feel jealous.

      I never came up with a number for the reception.

      Yes, Andi and Riley had more than 3 kids.

      The other siblings had more kids too. It’s just that the last book ends when they only have what they have at that date. If I wrote more, of course they would have more in those books. 😉

      Chad is the most well known Carter since he runs the best ranch in the state.

      I don’t have a ranking for her favorite brother. Each is special in his own way.

        Are the brothers the most protective of her because she is the youngest?

        Why doesn’t Mitch get married? And why in general did all the brothers get married extremely late?

        The brothers in the series got married late because that’s how it was in the original TV western series that I based my series on. Only when my editor/publisher asked the same question did I get them married off faster. 🤣🤣

    1. I’m sure she felt closer to her father and she did to a brother who was away at college. But after her father died in Justin came home then she attached herself to him. Yes he actually did advise her and he let mother do the disciplining but the financial supporting…. that’s just from the entire Carter clan. When Andi worked for Chad he paid her if she work for Justin, then Justin paid her
