Guess the Date-One More Time!

This is unbelievable! Mini-Mae is still holding out on us, even though her udder is huge and she’s pouting in a corner! Kristi (age 9) has been on Mini-Mae watch, because they were sure she would deliver yesterday! (May 27). Here it is now May 29 and still no foal. So, take your best guess ONE MORE TIME (yes, really). But this time please make sure your email (not in the comment, but in the box before you leave the comment) is included (you know who you are). If not, I will not be able to contact you. See the image? This is a comment but no email! I can’t notify the winner by replying to a comment. It doesn’t work that way.

Another chance to guess the date and gender

This is good news for all of you! In light of how “off” we were (after all, a rescue horse doesn’t whisper in your ear how far along she is), you guys can all make another guess on this post. I will look over the old post for any dates that go into June, but pretty much . . . this is crazy! So everybody can start fresh and guess a new date. And instead of just the Circle C flashlight, I am including a Circle C calendar because everyone has been so patient!

It’s hot! Bath time!
Mini-Mae loves Kristi best.
Watching for Mini-Mae to go into labor.
Maybe if we run fast enough, we’ll get that foal moving.
Please, please, please! I’m begging you!
Checking Mini-Mae’s udder for progress

She is just so stubborn!
Mini-Mae’s udder is bigger than the dairy goats’ udders!
“I’m in no hurry to deliver! So there!”

Story Idea

So, I saw Mini-Mae six months ago (on the left) and Mini-Mae right now. They don’t even look like the same horse! I can see a possible story idea here, about a Circle C dapple horse that gets stolen but six months later, what seems like their horse can’t possibly be because it looks like a completely different horse, and the thieves have changed the brand. Maybe a summer contest entry for somebody?

Is she a silver dapple? Or is Mini-Mae a chocolate palomino? Both? Neither? Who knows? What will her foal look like?

My daughter (Kristi’s mother) now understands the frustration of Andi’s family when Andi kept running in for a week or more at every twitch Taffy made, for sure she was getting ready to drop her foal. Just like Taffy was pawing and unhappy and uncomfortable, the minute Justin went out to check her, Taffy was eating and looking fine. Mini-Mae did this exact thing. On Friday, a lot of pawing, her nose pushed into a corner, biting at her sides–all the classic signs that the foaling was imminent! The next day, Saturday, she acted like she’s not even pregnant. Her udder is monstrous and she is all soft and squishy. But she’s eating and just looking at Kristi and the others, as if to say, “Ha, ha, I’m fooling all of you!”

Happy guessing! Kristel (Kristi’s mom) said you guys might as well guess well into June. (Hint: she has no more clue about any of this than the rest of us.)

The prize for guessing both date and gender correctly!
Coming Soon

You fans get to name the foal! That post (with another giveaway, of course, for the person who offers the name that Kristi likes best for her foal) is hopefully coming sooner rather than later. Stay tuned!

  1. June 8th colt! Hurry up Minnie Mae! Don’t you know you’ll be much less miserable?! She does look like Shasta and I love the story idea Mrs. M!
