The Colt’s Name

Yeah, sorry but the name contest was cut a little short. If you didn’t get a chance to suggest a name, this is what happens when you wait until the last minute to submit anything around here. LOL

Why? Because I received 87 suggestions and Kristel was impatient to name the colt. She was calling him “new colt,” and so I told her I’d send her the names. Here it is:

Here are the winning guesses. As usual, Kristel combined a name she liked from one suggestion with a name she liked from another suggestion (her perogative). My only surprise when I read the names was that there were not more suggestions for Shasta. After all, there is a (tiny) possibility that he could turn dark enough to be called a chocolate palomino (very tiny). Anyway, here are the winning suggestions, and the original name they submitted:

  • The West Family – Noble Dusk Moon or Noble Starlight Moon
  • Adeline S. – Blaze Noble Moon
  • Kaylah M. – Ashton Noble Moon
  • Hope R. – Golden Shasta Moon
  • Jennifer K. – Shasta Anthony Moon

All five winners may choose one digital download from my webstore. Thanks so much for contributing. I hope you had fun, and know that Kristel so appreciates your help. Naming fancy horses for registration papers is not her thing (actually, naming any animal is not her thing). I name pretty much all of the goats!

Shasta having fun with mom’s tail.

I remember when Kody turned “chocolate” one season, still a foal. As you know, he is a golden palomino now at three years old, and he started out very pale! So there is hope that our new Shasta could turn chocolate too.
