It’s been rather busy last few weeks. But things are settling down now and I have time to post this video of Shasta in Training. He’s just a little over two weeks and he’s leading. A friendly fellow, and so eager to please. And my goodness! Take a look at his tail! It’s wagging so fast, and he has his daddy, Rubicon’s long tail. It’s growing fast. It’s a five-minute video, so watch as much of it as you like. I ended up watching the entire thing because Shasta was always doing something new.
News flash: Jewels has been bred back to Rubicon for one last foaling! Why, you may ask? Rubicon is going to be sold. He’s just too much horse to care for in this TX climate, with his pale cremello coat and pink skin. The biting TX flies eat him alive no matter how hard Kristel tries to cover him with a light fly sheet. The poor stallion is miserable and needs more care than she can give. But we wanted one more foal out of him, so I’ll keep you posted on how it works out.
Here is the first day of teasing (one minute). Rube and Jewels are getting to know each other once again. It will not take long for them to be very good friends! He’s the only stallion she has ever been bred with. Listen carefully for the hight-pitched squealing! That is Shasta, totally upset that mama is across the way (he can easily see her!) and he wants her to come back. But Jewels is not upset at being separated from Shasta at all. She’s the best brood mare ever! We love her!

Shasta is so CUTE!
Is Knightly going to become the new stallion in Rubicon’s place?
Knightly is gelded and has pretty much been sold so he’ll be going to his new home in a couple of weeks. My daughter is getting out of the stallion breeding business It’s just a lot of expense to keep a stallion all year long to have him breed one mare once every year
Wow! No that makes total sense. He would have to be the sire of more then one or two foals… Knightly Is also related to Trissy so I guess it wouldn’t be very practical to keep him. Is she getting out of breeding or will you be using a different stallion? Will Trissy end up being a brood mare too?
It’s too early to say but right now she’s out of the breeding because she’s got plenty of horses and she’s had fun with the foals and now she’s ready to do something else with her horses.
Aww!! They are so beautiful! (And Shasta is so cute!) : )
So, how many horses do you have?
We have 5 right now
Oh, wow!! Which one is your favorite?
Knightly But he’s getting sold in the next couple weeks. 🥺
Oh, I’m sorry!! Yes, he is beautiful and majestic. : )
