Foal Watch

So… We see Scarlett’s pH dropping and get her stall all ready. She is eating hay. So Kristel says, “I need to tell Kristi her pH has dropped to 6.2.” okay. Fine. I head for the RV and Kristel stops me. “You have to watch her.” I stop. “What? Watch her eat?” “No. Watch for her water to break.” “Huh?” Kristel then says we are on 24/7 foal watch. Once the pH hits 6.2 the birth will be from right now up to 48 hours or anytime in between.

Glad I’ve got the day shift. I feel like Andi sitting around watching Taffy eat. And it’s freezing cold even though the sun is shining.

The bars in the picture keeps Scarlett on her side of the stall and I with my chair and the foaling supplies in my corner.

    1. No. Boo. She is acting just like Taffy! Just when you think she is getting ready to get down to business she decides to go eat some wheat straw just for fun. But she is leaking milk!

    1. Mostly we are super tired! Not yet. It’s kinda like waiting for the Lord’s Return. You know it’s going to happen soon. All the signs are there and yet … Not yet!

      1. Aww, man!
I kinda hope she waits till my bday on Tues. Which is the same day I guessed for her to foal. But hope it comes fast, so it’s over and done with.

    1. Btw the ‘Colten & Horses’ link does not work on ‘Home’ just thought I’d let you know! 🙂 It may have not worked before, I’m not sure. LOL
