Congratulations, Nora I. My judge, Ms. Donna, chose the following birthday gift idea as the winning entry, though she admitted (to me) it was very hard to choose. Nora’s entry came in at 47 words. Nicely done!

Nora’s Birthday Gift for Andi

“Happy 10th birthday Andi! I hope you like your gift!” I said.
“Oh, it’s that new book, Black Beauty, and licorice whips, my favorite candy!” Andi exclaimed.
“Ten of them because you are turning ten.” I smiled.
“Thank you for making my birthday extra special,” Andi finished.

Pictured above is the actual first edition of the November 1877 book by Anna Sewell. This is the cover Andi would have seen. The book came out six months before Andi turned ten (in May), so indeed Black Beauty is “that new book.” I believe there are ten licorice whips in the featured image of a “classic licorice” package.
