Horse & Filly Updates

It’s time for a fun update about Jewels Moonlight Treasure (Trissy). She will be 3 months old on September 7, and a stubborn little thing she is! But she’s as sweet as she looks and is in love with her official new owner: Kristi. A girl and her horse. It’s all Kristi (age 13) wants to do–hang out with Trissy. Give her baths. Check her feet. Scratch her. Brush her. School has started (Kristi is homeschooled), so I wondering if there is a special class called “Hanging Out with My Filly” and can count as school. Yes?

This is a fun 1.5 minute video. It includes hanging out with Trissy. Then things turn serious. Mom and Kristi hauled Jewels (and Trissy) to the vet to get an ultrasound to see if her new foal (bred with Rubicon again) is viable (6 weeks). Before they left, I said, “Why don’t you just use the nail test and see if she’s pregnant. And oh, by the way, you can find out if it’s a filly or a colt.”

  1. Hi,

Yes, “Hanging out with Trissy” counts as animal husbandry. I had a friend who earned a college degree in the care of horses from Michigan State University. She grew up on a farm and showed horses in 4-H. When she graduated from high school, she went to MSU where she double majored in horses and nursing. She had earned her money for college from raising, breeding, and selling horses, so it seemed fitting to receive an official degree for her knowedge. She passed away last year and is heaven now. I really miss her. Well, have a blessed weekend.

    Warm regards,
