Jewels foaled last night (June 26, 2026) and gave us a beautiful . . . COLT. We are laughing with embarrassment because the “nail” trick did not prove true, after all. It was accurate every time, and I admit, even I saw it go ’round and ’round last spring and assured myself that she would have another filly.
We all look pretty dumb right about now, but we couldn’t be happier! I didn’t think Jewels could outdo herself after Trissy (last year) and of course Taffy, but she did! He needs a name, and we’ll get to that in a bit, but first, his coloring.
Kristel immediately got on the fancy APHA site/FB and asked which of these DNA coloring “No Name” is. Hands down . . . a PALOMINO SPLASH. I see 17% of you guessed this, and you are right. It’s the huge blaze on his face, the tiny “splash” on his side, and his one knee-length white stocking that gave it away. He’s darker than Taffy was (so far), and his eyelashes are golden, so a palomino for sure, and what a beauty! Moon is part of the sires name so that’s why she wants the moon as the last part of her colt’s name, but the first two names can be anything you want. That’s the whole point of having you guys submit names
