Ideas for Stories?

Find other Let’s Write posts in Andi’s Attic >>

This post request comes from Sara M. She likes to write stories, as you can probably tell from the number of Fan Fiction she submits. She has asked me to post a Story Idea Post. I will archive it under the “Let’s Write” category in Andi’s Attic so you can find it. So, what is she asking?

She would like a post for general ideas, intended for all writers who like to write all kinds of stories. Say, for example, someone has an idea for a story idea but needs a writer to actually grab the idea and write it. Sara, for herself, would love to hear some ideas that she could take and write a story about. This can be for any kinds of stories, not just Circle C. Just an IDEA TO WRITER gathering.

Feel free to post any story ideas in the comments for Sara (or others) to get excited about.

  1. Hi!
I also love to write stories! I don’t usually have ideas before I write, I just write and sometimes keep what I’ve written or just toss it.
You could write about a major natural disaster(fire, tornado, hurricane, etc.) and have the character lose something, so that they have to learn to live without it and rely on others to help them.
    Have fun with your writing!

  2. This is such a great idea, Sara! I can take ideas to, if there get to be too many or you don’t want to write them all πŸ™‚ Ofc this was your idea, so it totally up to you!

      1. It is really fun! I do it by google docs, I add a little to the story, then the other person does. We both go back and forth and make edits and add to the story!
If you want to write a story with me I’d be happy too!! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

      2. Oh! I was wondering that too. Yay for Google docs!!! Which gives me an idea. When I was teaching my homeschool co-op, the class did a story this way…. Written out of course. Then they would trade. Maybe I will start an Andi story and whoever wants to can add to it, and we’ll see where it goes!! πŸ₯³

      3. I’ll ask my Mom as soon as she is back. We just bought another house to fix up and she went up there for a while.

      1. You know the drill. Both you and Lizzy D. need to send me your emails (which assumes you have parent permission). Then I will copy the emails and send them to both of you.

  3. Hey, I also like writing but have never actually gotten the chance to write a fanfiction. I have had a few ideas that I’d love to see written out though. I’ve always loved the idea of reading about Chad and Riley’s private dancing lesson, from Yosemite at Last. (I think it was in that one) Hopefully you can understand which one I mean. If you need specification I will try to explain better.

  4. Lol, i want story ideas! But here’s one about history if you wanna write about it; a girl\boy’s journey through the underground railroad. i love reading books with the settings in history. Just an idea

      1. Andi doing research is a good idea but keep in mind if you write your own stories and don’t use Mrs. Marlow’s characters you may one day be able to publish them. By adding to a story in the future you could have enough material for a book.

      2. Ha! Just change the names and settings of the Andi characters, add a new plot here and there, and throw in a “guest character,” and you already have your own story. πŸ™‚

  5. Great responses! And a good idea. I keep an “idea file.” When I think of something,or see something that triggers off my interest, I write a note and stick it in a file folder for future reference.

  6. Hey everyone. So I live in Florida and we are getting ready to have a really bad hurricane here. I was just wondering you you all could pray for my family and I as it will be happening tonight through tomorrow and the next day possibly. Thank youπŸ™

    1. Absolutely! I just prayed for your family for safety and to trust God during these very scary times. “I will trust and not be afraid.”
You get the hurricanes. We out West get the fires. God is control over all of them!

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you

      1. So we got through the storm alright but around 15 trees on on property went down. thankfully none fell on our house. Our property is a mess with leaves and branches. We are out of power right now not going out until around four yesterday. We had terrible winds so bad that we couldnt leave our apartment in the shed for hours. Thank you all for praying for us! Please still keep on praying that we would get power again soon and that we could get everything cleaned up without any incident. Thank you!

      2. And PLEASE continue to pray for all the people that have been affected by this. This was a huge storm and thousands of people have been affected

      3. At our Wednesday church service, we prayed for all of the people affected by the storm, and I specifically thought of you, Jenny! While listening to “The Worldview in Five Minutes” (a podcast my family likes), they talked about all of the damage that the hurricane caused. They mentioned that a lot of homes didn’t have any power, like you said about your house. I just wanted to let you know that I’m praying for you, your family, and all of the people that have been affected SO HARD.

    1. This is true. I wish I knew how to write a good mystery. It’s a gift of my author friend, Donna A. Patton, but mysteries are very, very hard for me to write. That is why I have not commenced a Circle C Mysteries series. I would be so stressed trying to figure out plots that make good mysteries. I’m terrible at it!

      1. Mrs. Marlow do you have any other friends or can you recommend any mysteries by someone not catholic? I am sure your friend is extremely talented but I’m looking for something more on the lines of my own belief?

      2. Yes, *sigh* it’s too bad because her mysteries are fun and full of adventure. But I agree. Do you know Miralee Ferrell?
She writes middle-grade Christian fiction. The series is called Horses and Friends. They are not mysteries per se, but fun reads and wholesome.
I can recommend Trixie Belden for mysteries. LOVED that series a young teen. (I can recommended books 1-16 only, since those are the only ones I’ve read.) You can get them at the library.
And I will be interviewing my author friend, Jan May, who writes middle-grade quasi-mystery horse books.
And Colleen Reece has an entire series called the Juli Scott mysteries for middle grade. I interviewed her and she writes everything wholesome from our beliefs. Even though it is for middle-grade, her main character is 16, kind of like Nancy Drew but very family and faith-oriented. You can read her interview here in case you missed it and scroll down to get the link for the Juli Scott series.

  8. I like history stories as well. Like the underground, twin towers, natural disasters, or different wars. I would recommend doing historical fiction if you do use any of these ideas, where you follow a character throughout the book. Whatever you write I’m sure it will be awesome as you are very talented. Remember always praise God for the gift He has given you! This is a great idea Sara, good luck!

  9. Definitely praying for you, Jenny! Here are some verses for you:
Psalms 34:17 When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.”

Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Matthew 6:34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

      1. Totally recommend the Wingfeather saga as well! More series I like are the Green Ember series (S. D. Smith), the Wilderking series (Jonathan Rodgers), and multiple series’ by Dandi Daley Mackall (horse books). All of them are Christians and their stories are great!

  10. I’ve always wanted to write a story that takes place after the first Stepping Stones book, where Sadie and Andi find a baby in the woods. Andi would bring it back to Circle C ranch, and her world would slowly turn upside down. But eventually, they find the baby’s parents. It sounds kind of weird, but I thought I’d just put that out there. πŸ™‚
